it's summer time!

For those of you who are just graduating from high school and looking at coming to ABU in the fall, congratulations! This is an exciting time in your life.

For everyone - cherish your summer. I realized the other day that the end of next week will mark the middle of my summer vacation. I cannot believe that it is already almost half over. But the exciting thing about the end of summer is that we get to go back to school! I know that sounds ridiculous - but I am extremely excited for next year and what it will bring!

We have a great group of people serving as our council for next year, and we plan on bringing some much needed changes to council. We still have a couple positions that aren't filled though -so if you are interested please let me know (abusa.council@gmail.com).

If you are looking to get involved but don't know where to start consider joining (or starting) a society. Societies are a 'min-council' who are responsible to provide events and services to people in their faculty (for example: the Business society, the English society, the Sociology society, etc). This is a great way to get involved and also get to know new people

If you have a hobby that you really love, and you would like to obtain some funding to keep doing it, and you want to get a group of people together to do it, let us know and you may be eligible to start a club funded by the ABUSA! Whether you enjoy baking, cars, or rock climbing, we may be able to help you out!

If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas please send me an email. Although we have a lot of good ideas, we know that we are not perfect, and that there are many things we could do better, so please please please let me know! In the fall, the members of the executive will have office hours, where you will be able to come and visit us when you want to talk.

Finally, if you are going through something, especially academically related, but whatever it may be - please feel free to come and talk to us - if we can't help you, we will try to find someone who can. We are your student association, and we want to be able to help you in any way we can!

Welcome Back!

Council would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back (or welcome you for the first time) to school!

We are very excited about this semester coming up,and feel it will be a great semester! We will try our hardest to ensure that we can do whatever we can to ease this semester for you, and to ensure that you have a great, fun semester!

If there are things that you would like to see happen at the school, changes you would like to see made, or events you would like to take place, feel free to email us at abusa.council@gmaill.com, talk to us in person, or leave a note for us in the office (to be put in the ABUSA mailbox). We will try our hardest to ensure that we can address whatever issue or suggestion you have!

We also ask you to participate. There are many great events that will take place, and there are many things that we can do for you. But unless you participate, you cannot benefit from them. Participation creates community, and maybe it will be at one of these events that you will meet the person who will be (for lack of a better term) your best friend for years to come.

Your first chance to participate will be this wednesday, January 7th at noon hour. Your student council will be in the cafeteria and great hall with different activities, and great treats. Be sure to participate in these activities, as there are great prizes to go along with them!
